The Indonesia Australia Legal Development Facility (LDF)
is a five year project which is funded under the Australian
Government Aid Program and managed by the Australian Agency for
International Development (AusAID). LDF aims to strengthen the capacity
of Indonesian government institutions and civil society to promote
legal reform as well as protect human rights. LDF commenced in April
2004, and will run until April 2009.
LDF programs its activities based on set of thematic priorities:
Access to Justice, Human Rights, Anti-Corruption and Transnational
Crime. Supporting thematic priorities are Gender and Sustainability.
LDF is a flexible program that provides support to key agencies
under these sectoral themes, but also responds to emerging issues
in Indonesian legal and institutional reform.
Institutional partnerships are a key method of engagement. LDF
has developed a core program of long-term activities with strategic
partner agencies including the Indonesian Supreme Court, National
Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM), the Attorney General Office
and the Anti Corruption Commission (Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi).
LDF actively engages with these agencies through a range of initiatives
including technical assistance, training, research and study visits.
LDF places significant emphasis on supporting civil society institutions
in their own research, training and advocacy work. We also seek
to support civil society’s engagement with institutional reform,
a key driver in the legal and human rights fields.
LDF is managed by GRM International in association with the Asian
Law Group, both of which are based in Australia. GRM International
has an Indonesian office based in Jakarta. |
