IALDF Text Messaging (SMS) Terms & Conditions and Privacy Statement

IALDF Text Messaging (SMS) Terms & Conditions and Privacy Statement
Last updated: June 17, 2026
The Iranian American Legal Defense Fund (“IALDF,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) offers text (SMS) messaging to communicate with individuals who contact us for assistance. This page sets out the Terms & Conditions that govern that messaging and the Privacy Statement describing how we handle the information involved. By providing your mobile number to IALDF and agreeing to be contacted by text, you accept the Terms & Conditions below.
SMS Terms & Conditions
1. Program description
IALDF uses SMS for one-to-one, conversational messaging between our staff and the individuals we assist. Texts are sent by an assigned IALDF representative solely to facilitate and coordinate communication — for example, confirming appointments, providing status updates, responding to intake questions, and arranging calls or meetings. This is not a marketing program, and we do not use automated, bulk, or promotional messaging.
2. No legal representation created
Text messages are for communication and coordination only. Contacting IALDF by text, or receiving texts from IALDF, does not create an attorney-client relationship and does not constitute legal advice or legal representation. An attorney-client relationship with IALDF is formed only through a signed, written engagement agreement. Please do not send confidential or time-sensitive legal information by text.
3. Consent and opt-in
You provide your mobile number and consent to be contacted by text when you reach out to IALDF for assistance — through our intake form, by phone, by email, or in person. We will send texts only to individuals who have provided their number for this purpose. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of receiving any service from IALDF.
4. Message frequency
Message frequency varies and depends on the nature of your communication with your IALDF representative.
5. Cost
IALDF does not charge for text messages. However, message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan. You are responsible for any such charges.
6. Opt-out and help
You may opt out of receiving texts at any time by replying STOP to any message. After you reply STOP, you will receive a confirmation and no further texts, unless you later opt back in by replying START. For help, reply HELP or contact us using the details below.
7. Supported carriers and delivery
Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Message delivery is subject to the effective transmission by your mobile carrier and other factors outside IALDF’s control.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page. Your continued participation in text messaging after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

SMS Privacy Statement
This Privacy Statement explains how IALDF collects, uses, and protects information in connection with our text messaging program. It supplements our general privacy policy.
1. Information we collect
In connection with text messaging, we collect your mobile phone number, the content of the messages you exchange with us, and related metadata such as date and time of messages.
2. How we use your information
We use your mobile number and message content only to communicate with you about your request for assistance and to coordinate contact. We do not use this information for marketing or advertising.
3. How we share your information
We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile number or message content with third parties for their marketing or promotional purposes. We share information only as necessary to deliver messages — for example, with Microsoft and the underlying telecommunications carrier, aggregator, or operator that transmits the messages on our behalf — or as required by law.
No mobile opt-in data sharing. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
4. Data retention
We retain text message information only as long as necessary for the purposes described above or as required by applicable law, after which it is securely deleted or anonymized.
5. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the information we collect. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Your choices
You may opt out of texts at any time by replying STOP. You may also contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of the information we hold about you, subject to applicable law.
