Communications & Digital Media Intern

Part-time (10 hours a week) | Remote (U.S.)

About IALDF:

The Iranian American Legal Defense Fund (IALDF) is a national nonprofit dedicated to protecting and advancing the civil, political, and economic rights of the Iranian-American community. We use impact litigation, legal advocacy, and public education, as tools to combat discrimination and promote equity. Our work addresses urgent and evolving legal challenges affecting our community–including immigration issues, civil rights violations, banking discrimination, and hate crimes.

Position Overview:

The Iranian American Legal Defense Fund (IALDF) is seeking a passionate and creative Communications & Digital Media Intern to help amplify our mission, strengthen our digital presence, and support real-time communications on pressing civil rights issues affecting the Iranian-American community. This role is ideal for someone interested in using media, design, and narrative to advance justice, promote advocacy, and build a strong digital voice for a fast-growing nonprofit.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Draft and edit compelling written content for newsletters, press releases, social media, blog posts, and web pages.
  • Support content scheduling and engagement across digital platforms (Instagram, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Mailchimp, BlueSky, etc.).
  • Monitor news, policy shifts, and legal developments to help craft timely, effective rapid-response communications.
  • Assist in designing graphics, infographics, and videos using Canva or similar tools.
  • Contribute to the growth of our audience and newsletter list through Webflow, Mailchimp, and other apps.
  • Collaborate with staff, partners, and community organizers to support joint announcements, events, and public campaigns.
Qualifications:
  • Strong commitment to civil rights and Iranian American advocacy.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and visual storytelling skills.
  • Familiarity with social media trends, engagement strategies, and digital best practices.
  • Experience with Canva, Mailchimp, Webflow, or equivalent tools (or interest in learning).
  • Highly organized, reliable, self-starting, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Fluency in Farsi and/or familiarity with the Iranian-American community and its legal issues are a plus but not required.
Compensation:

Modest stipend (commensurate with experience and availability)
