IALDF Investigates ICE Facilities and Files Complaint with the United Nations Regarding Mass Deportations to the Islamic Regime in Iran
The Iranian American Legal Defense Fund (IALDF) conducted in-person investigations at multiple ICE detention facilities across the United States, meeting with individuals of Iranian descent who are lawfully seeking asylum. These individuals have articulated genuine fear of persecution by the Islamic Regime due to their conversion to Christianity, support for women’s rights, membership in the LGBTQ community, or otherwise standing up to the oppression by the Islamic Regime.

IALDF Files FOIA Requests on U.S. Deportation Flights to Iran, Citing Due Process and Human Rights Concerns
The Iranian American Legal Defense Fund (IALDF) announced today that it has filed Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and the U.S. Department of State seeking public records concerning a previously undisclosed agreement between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran. For the first time, the agreement reportedly enabled the forced return of asylum seekers to the very regime they had fled–the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Coalition Statement by IALDF, Pars Equality Center, and PAAIA on the Deportation of Iranian Asylum Seekers
We, the undersigned organizations, are profoundly concerned about reports that about 120 Iranian nationals have been or will be deported under a recent agreement between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran, with many more at risk. Many of these men and women fled Iran seeking refuge from religious persecution, political repression, and gender‑based violence.
