About IALDF:

The Iranian American Legal Defense Fund (IALDF) is a national nonprofit dedicated to protecting and advancing the civil, political, and economic rights of the Iranian-American community. We use impact litigation, legal advocacy, and public education, as tools to combat discrimination and promote equity. Our work addresses urgent and evolving legal challenges affecting our community–including immigration issues, civil rights violations, banking discrimination, and hate crimes.

Position Overview:

The Iranian American Legal Defense Fund (IALDF) is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Research & Writing Intern to support our litigation strategy, legal intake process, and public education work. Interns will contribute to draft research memos and community-facing materials, and help track legal and policy developments impacting our community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research on civil rights, immigration, hate crimes, banking discrimination, and related areas.
  • Draft memoranda, research briefs, and public-facing educational content
  • Support the development of FAQs, toolkits, and advocacy materials
  • Track and summarize relevant federal/state legislation, regulations, and executive actions
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to strategic discussions
Qualifications:
  • Current undergraduate student with strong research and writing skills
  • Demonstrated interest in civil rights, immigration, or public interest advocacy
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management abilities
  • Strong sense of discretion, integrity, and commitment to confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, remote environment
  • Familiarity with the Iranian American community or Farsi language skills are a plus, but not required
Compensation:

Modest stipend (commensurate with availability and experience)
