The Iranian American Legal Defense Fund (IALDF) has filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), demanding records about the U.S. government's reported coordination with the Islamic Republic of Iran to deport Iranian nationals from the United States.
The lawsuit seeks to compel the agencies to release records revealing the diplomatic, legal, and operational arrangements behind these deportations, including any agreements, legal memoranda, risk assessments, and communications related to the removal of Iranian nationals to the Islamic regime that the U.S. government itself describes as one of the world's most repressive regimes.
